Sustainable Home Stories

As a producer with a heart for people and especially for families and relatives, working for a better environment is a basic concern for everyone. Production-wise, efforts were therefore made to improve that ecological footprint.

Energy

The entire energy consumption of the Sinia factory is monitored by Sensorfact from the Netherlands. This means that Sinia receives a weekly overview of the most important energy consumptions, this to avoid wasting energy. If a machine consumes more energy than normal outside the normal pattern, this is immediately reported in an App, which immediately checks what the possible cause could be. All heating sources within the production unit have been replaced, or will soon be replaced, with the most economical devices with the highest possible efficiency on the market. All personal workplaces have been adapted with the most ergonomic and environmentally friendly tools to perform the work as ergonomically as possible.

Wood

The FSC forest certificate is an international label or seal on a wood or paper product indicating that the product comes from a sustainably managed forest. FSC stands for “Forest Stewardship Council”, the international organisation that issues the certificate. All board materials processed in our production unit are FSC qualified. The wood processing process at Sinia, has also complied with EURD regulations since 2024. The Regulation on Deforestation-free products (EUDR) is a new EU law to combat climate change through deforestation and forest degradation. From 30 December 2025, this standard will be an obligation. The EUDR requires that only goods and products can be placed on the market, which do not cause deforestation or forest degradation. In addition, it must be legally produced. Every wooden component of your Passe Partout furniture is traceable. Passe Partout can prove from which supplier it was purchased, where it in turn came from or where it was produced. On top of that, the country of origin, the forest area and when it was felled and replanted can be fully demonstrated.

Packaging

The foam supplied as manufactured by suppliers is no longer packaged in plastic. Today, reusable packaging was switched to for this purpose. This continues to rotate between suppliers and the Sinia factory.
In the process, plastic packaging has also been replaced by bags made of Fybertex. These can be used for years for packaging foam parts. This means great savings in plastic consumption on the one hand, and much less plastic waste at Sinia on the other.

Glue

All glues used within the production process are water-based. These are therefore not harmful to either our employees or the environment. An adjustment in the production process of the glue departments also reduced the consumption of furniture glue in our factory by more than 25%.

Transport

All transport takes place with “Euro VI” standardised trucks. Apart from an electric alternative, these trucks are the least polluting for our environment.
